What is IMF?

Founded in 1985 by Dr. Ray Landers, the  International Music Festival is a family-oriented, music, theater, arts and sports event for the entire family. Following the philosophy of Shinichi Suzuki that "all children can be educated" and the belief of numerous educators that "music is a necessary luxury for man," the Festival strives to be an international leader in music and other arts education. It offers quality programs that are intended to help each participant become more compassionate, intelligent, caring and cooperative through interactive learning in small and large groups. It's ongoing mission statement and continual emphasis is to provide an environment that will remind everyone of the important role of the arts in a healthy society.  The International Music Festival seeks to create an environment that is a learning style vacation with classes for every member of the family and opportunities for the whole family to participate together in creating music and art.  IMF is unique in its combination of a Suzuki institute and a traditional music camp and in its eclectic approach in presenting various approaches not only in music, but also in art, dance, music theatre, and sports.  An important aspect is IMF involvement of student's parents in the learning processes.    For more details re IMF's history, see Mission Statement.
