How to Prepare

Students should come with one or two polished pieces, memorized preferred but not required, and performance ready. These should be pieces that have been studied over a period of time and preferably have already been performed.

Suzuki String Repertoire Class should review the repertoire list that is available online, practice their current piece and practice along with the recordings. Other recommended preparation techniques include small section practice, trying different tempi and interpretations, and, for pianists, practicing hands separately.

Students should bring the music for any pieces they wish to study during the week.

Registrants are asked to develop an attitude of placing music and the arts in first priority of importance, understanding the philosophy of Suzuki and others that "music is a necessary luxury" and to come with a most positive attitude to learn and to enjoy the week.
